2 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves or ginger
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c butter or regular margarine, softened
1 c granulated sugar
4 eggs
3/4 c buttermilk or sour milk
1 1/2 c Kitchen Kettle Spiced Apple Butter
Confectioners' sugar, for the top
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and flour a 13x9x2 baking pan and set aside.
Sift flour, baking soda, and spices; set aside.
In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy.
At low speed, beat in flour mixture, in fourths, alternately with buttermilk, in thirds, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
Stir in apple butter; mix well.
Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 50 minutes, or until surface springs back when gently pressed.
Cool in pan for 15 minutes.
Remove from pan; cool thoroughly on rack.
To serve, cut into 12 squares and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
